A guide to building your Individual Giving event/campaign
This article walks you through all the key areas to review and customise when setting up a standard Individual Giving campaign, challenge event, or peer to peer fundraising event/campaign in Emma Live. Taking the time to configure these settings will help ensure your event/campaign looks professional, performs well, and delivers the best possible experience for fundraisers and donors.
General Event Setup
Navigate to Setup and review the following sections carefully:
Setup > General
- Check that all event information is correct, including event name, dates and descriptions.
- Ensure the event URL has been customised and reflects your campaign clearly.
Setup > Branding
- Upload and confirm your logos, brand colours and favicon.
- Ensure branding is consistent with your wider charity identity.

Setup > Communication
- Customise the Email From name and SMS From name so supporters clearly recognise your charity.
- Set the reply to email address to an inbox that is actively monitored.
Setup > Data and Privacy
- Review and customise your marketing opt in statement to ensure it aligns with your data and consent policies.

Setup > Payment Methods
- Review and customise your credit card settings.
- You can choose to ask donors to cover Stripe fees so you receive 100% of the donation, and set the percentage for this.
- Alternatively, set this to 0% and £0 if you would prefer Stripe fees to be deducted from the donation instead. View instructions here.
Guest Settings
Guests > Sign Up
- Customise the questions supporters are asked when creating an account.

Guests > Settings
- Review your sign-up settings.
- We recommend enabling address lookup if you are collecting postal addresses, for ease of user journey but also accurate data. View instructions here.
- Toggle on “Enable UK Taxpayer Declaration” if you would like to collect Gift Aid on donations. View instructions here.
Communications
Comms
- Review the relevant email and SMS templates used throughout the event journey. View instructions here.
- Branding will be pulled through automatically, but you can fully customise the copy, add attachments, and include links.
- You can also optimise communications using built in AI. View instructions here.
Fundraising Page Settings
Navigate to All Pages > Individual Giving > Fundraisers > Settings.
Key areas to customise include:
- Minimum and default fundraising targets
- Suggested donation amounts
- Fundraising milestones
- Default Fundraiser Page main image
- Default Fundraiser Story
- Default Donor Thank You message
- Default Team Story
We also recommend:
- Enabling “Enable Guest Checkout for Individual Giving” to reduce friction for donors.
- Toggling on “Require ticket purchase” if you only want supporters to create a fundraising page after registering or buying a ticket. View instructions here.
Ticketing
If you are selling tickets or collecting registrations, review the following areas:
All Pages > Tickets > Creating a Ticket
- You can create multiple ticket types if needed. View instructions here.
- Use the “Full” layout (top right) to access all relevant settings for IG campaigns.
- IMPORTANT: If supporters will also be creating fundraising pages, ensure “Link to individual giving page” is toggled on in Advanced settings.
- Key fields to review:
- Ticket title
- Ticket and seat wording
- Seat count per ticket
- Quantity of tickets available
- Pricing
- Description (optional)
Pages > Tickets > Registration
- Create your registration questions first.
- Then return to the Registration Overview to link questions to specific tickets.

Pages > Tickets > Settings
- Customise the confirmation page content and wording shown after registration.

Merchandise
If you would like to sell merchandise as part of your event:
Adding Merchandise
- Go to All Pages, scroll down to Add Pages, then select Buy Now Items.
- Click Add Buy Now Item to create merchandise items and set quantities.

All Pages > Buy Now Items > Microsite Page
- Rename the page to something clearer for supporters, such as “Merchandise”.
