A guide to building your Individual Giving event/campaign

This article walks you through all the key areas to review and customise when setting up a standard Individual Giving campaign, challenge event, or peer to peer fundraising event/campaign in Emma Live. Taking the time to configure these settings will help ensure your event/campaign looks professional, performs well, and delivers the best possible experience for fundraisers and donors.

General Event Setup

Navigate to Setup and review the following sections carefully:

Setup General

  • Check that all event information is correct, including event name, dates and descriptions.
  • Ensure the event URL has been customised and reflects your campaign clearly.

Setup > Branding

Setup Communication

  • Customise the Email From name and SMS From name so supporters clearly recognise your charity.
  • Set the reply to email address to an inbox that is actively monitored.

Setup Data and Privacy

  • Review and customise your marketing opt in statement to ensure it aligns with your data and consent policies.
    View instructions here.

Setup > Payment Methods

  • Review and customise your credit card settings.
  • You can choose to ask donors to cover Stripe fees so you receive 100% of the donation, and set the percentage for this.
  • Alternatively, set this to 0% and £0 if you would prefer Stripe fees to be deducted from the donation instead. View instructions here.

Guest Settings

Guests > Sign Up

Guests > Settings

  • Review your sign-up settings.
  • We recommend enabling address lookup if you are collecting postal addresses, for ease of user journey but also accurate data. View instructions here.
  • Toggle on “Enable UK Taxpayer Declaration” if you would like to collect Gift Aid on donations. View instructions here.

Communications

Comms

  • Review the relevant email and SMS templates used throughout the event journey. View instructions here.
  • Branding will be pulled through automatically, but you can fully customise the copy, add attachments, and include links.
  • You can also optimise communications using built in AI. View instructions here.

Fundraising Page Settings

Navigate to All Pages Individual Giving > Fundraisers > Settings.

Key areas to customise include:

  • Minimum and default fundraising targets
  • Suggested donation amounts
  • Fundraising milestones
  • Default Fundraiser Page main image
  • Default Fundraiser Story
  • Default Donor Thank You message
  • Default Team Story

We also recommend:

  • Enabling “Enable Guest Checkout for Individual Giving” to reduce friction for donors.
  • Toggling on “Require ticket purchase” if you only want supporters to create a fundraising page after registering or buying a ticket. View instructions here.

Ticketing

If you are selling tickets or collecting registrations, review the following areas:

All Pages > Tickets > Creating a Ticket

  • You can create multiple ticket types if needed. View instructions here.
  • Use the “Full” layout (top right) to access all relevant settings for IG campaigns.
  • IMPORTANT: If supporters will also be creating fundraising pages, ensure “Link to individual giving page” is toggled on in Advanced settings.
  • Key fields to review:
    • Ticket title
    • Ticket and seat wording
    • Seat count per ticket
    • Quantity of tickets available
    • Pricing
    • Description (optional)

Pages > Tickets > Registration

  • Create your registration questions first.
  • Then return to the Registration Overview to link questions to specific tickets.
  • Refer to the existing help article here on adding registration questions for step by step guidance.

Pages > Tickets > Settings
